Do students drink too much coffee?

Do students drink too much coffee? Living in a residency at University, every single dormitory had their own kettle. Every day of lectures was started with a cup of coffee and the consumption never stopped there. In and between most lectures, a coffee cup is used to get students through the day. Meeting friends for lunch breaks are more than likely done with a coffee in hand. Every student seemed to get themselves going in the same way from the first day they started their lives out of school.

Even as the years progressed and I moved into a house with other students, the mornings started in the same way. Coffee, of course. Coffee continued to be used as a way to take a time out from routine and give yourself a break. The first digs (house) I shared with other students, we had a coffee list above the kettle, with the amount of sugar and milk for each person filled in next to their name. We took turns to make the coffee. We procrastinated by playing card games instead of studying. Loser makes the coffee.

Coffee for a student is a necessity. Coffee is a way to come together whether its a break from studying, a way to procrastinate, or the help needed to get you up after a night out on the town.

During exams consumption definitely increases as a typical student is in the library until late in the night. Coffee breaks between their study sessions, fuelling them late into the night. Do students drink too much coffee? Yes. Will they stop. Probably not.
